Go Back Go Back

British GP, Hawkstone, 1990

This photo is from the British GP at Hawkstone Park, 1990. This is the table-top on the way back down from the hill.

That tabletop was really short, but with a fast straight before it. So, we had to brake quite hard for it in order to land on the down-slope of the jump. However as time went on through Saturday's practice a big acceleration whoop appeared after the landing. So I started jumping long, way past the down-slope, and landing on the down-side of the bump instead.

It was much faster, but blind, a little scary, and required pin-point distance accuracy. But you have to make it challenging, right?
