Legend's Parade, British Motocross GP, 2008

At the 2008 British motocross GP at Mallory Park, the promoters organised the inaugural 'Legends Parade', which I was kindly invited to take part in. Hopefully the first of many, the idea was to get together as many world and British championship riders from yesteryear as possible, for a 2 lap parade prior to the grand prix races themselves. For a first attempt, organised at short notice it proved very successful and popular both with the riders and the large crowd.

Riders taking part included Graham Noyce, David Watson, James Dobb, Roger Harvey, Vic Allan, and Mark Banks, as well as many lesser known British championship notables such as Neil Griffiths and Terry Challinor.

It was a great event and I was more than happy to wheel out my restored CR500 and blast it round the Mallory circuit as a aural tribute to the days when 500cc two strokes ruled the race tracks.

It was also a great occasion for meeting up with old friends, some of whom I haven't seen for more than 20 years.

I hope that the concept spreads to other GPs and that I have the opportunity to take part again in the future.

My sincere thanks to Gareth Hockey for inviting me.
